Meeting energy codes without sacrificing structural performance
South African building energy regulation (SANS 10400-XA) requires minimum R-values for roofs, walls and floors in all new commercial and residential construction. Getting to compliance on paper is straightforward — getting there in practice, within your wall buildup thickness, with materials that perform over the building’s life, requires knowing which product belongs where.
Moisture is the other challenge. Insulation that absorbs water loses its R-value and can cause structural damage. The right specification accounts for vapour drive, internal conditions and the thermal bridge potential at structural junctions.

The right product for the element — specified correctly the first time
EPS is the most cost-effective solution for wall cavity, under-slab and roofing applications where load-bearing or moisture exposure are factors. Its low weight simplifies installation and its dimensional stability means performance does not degrade over time.
Where fire classification requirements exceed what EPS provides, PIR/PIC board delivers the same or better thermal performance with significantly improved fire resistance. For facades and applications where acoustic performance is also required, Rockwool provides a non-combustible solution with high NRC ratings.
